November Health Campaigns
During November, National Health Campaigns include Mouth Cancer Action Month and Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month
During Mouth Cancer Action Month the message is clear – ‘if in doubt, get checked out’.
We encourage everybody to be mouth aware and pay close attention to what’s going on with their mouth. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, make an appointment with your dentist or doctor to get it checked by a professional. – Mouth Cancer Action Month | Home | Oral Health Foundation
Mouth cancer, also called oral cancer, can affect any part of the mouth, including the gums, tongue, inside the cheeks, or lips.
Anyone can get mouth cancer, but the risk increases with age. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 66 and 70.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the world’s deadliest cancers. It is the sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally among major cancers, with a five-year survival rate that remains in the single digits in many parts of the world.
This year alone, an estimated 531,000 people worldwide will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and nearly 490,000 will lose their lives to the disease.
Sign and Symptoms
Early detection matters. Knowing the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer can make a
difference. While pancreatic cancer is often difficult to detect early, recognizing the warning signs and seeking medical attention promptly may lead to an earlier diagnosis, when more treatment options may be available. Take time to learn the signs and symptoms, listen to your body and speak with your GP if something doesn’t feel right.
Risk Factors
The exact cause of most pancreatic cancer cases is unknown. However, research has identified several risk factors that may increase a person’s likelihood of developing pancreatic cancer.
Understanding these risk factors can help people have informed conversations with their healthcare provider and better understand their personal risk.
